allergy-awareness-week

Next week is Food Allergy Awareness Week, created in 1998 by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (now FARE – Food Allergy and Research Education). We wanted to take the occasion to discuss the important steps to take to start living well every day, and to stop your food intolerances from having control over your life and decisions.

If you have been experiencing symptoms such as migraines, nausea, fatigue, tiredness, bloating, or even skin problems such as eczema, then a food intolerance could be the root of all your problems. Intolerance testing with TMI Testing will help you to understand exactly which foods you’re sensitive to, meaning you can begin the process of elimination and alleviate your symptoms in just a few simple steps.

A food intolerance and sensitivity can really affect your life, and a food intolerance test has become a much more widely accepted method of determining which foods you’re reacting to. We want to help you understand how you can start enjoying your life without the worry again, so here we’re sharing a few of our top tips for adjusting your life without missing out on anything.

Dining out at a restaurant

A food sensitivity can make dining out at a restaurant hard, especially for those who don’t want to come across as ‘picky’ or to cause a fuss for the waiting staff. There are a few things you can do before you dine out at a restaurant which will make things easier. Firstly, take a look at the menu online. Most places nowadays will offer vegan and gluten-free options, which makes things easier for those who have an intolerance to meat, dairy or gluten products. If you have any queries, try emailing or calling the restaurant beforehand to make them aware of any intolerances you have – this means the chef’s can prepare ahead, and you can avoid any mishaps on the day of your dinner.

Eating with friends or family

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where a friend or family member has cooked a delicious dinner for you, except it contains one of the ingredients which triggers your symptoms? It can be awkward to have that conversation to explain you can’t eat the dinner they’ve made. To avoid any frustrations, make sure all of your friends and family are aware of your intolerance, especially prior to cooking a dinner for you. Suggest taking your own food or suggest any recipe’s so that the entire group can enjoy the food together.
